My first time in Columbine High School

On April 20, 1999 my world was rocked. I’m sure yours was as well. Just twenty minutes or so down the road from Dare 2 Share Ministries headquarters, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold unleashed a fury of death and destruction. Thirteen lives later they ended their own.

Over the next few days my co-pastor, Rick Long, and myself ministered to the countless teenagers in Clement Park, which is just adjacent to the school. I will never forget the looks of shock, sadness and terror in the eyes of the teenagers whom we prayed with and for during that time of national grief.

Tonight, for the first time, I will be in Columbine High School along with some very passionate Christian adults. Dare 2 Share is sponsoring a gathering of spiritual champions who want to make a difference in the lives of teenagers across the nation and in their own communities. Tonight, by God’s grace, we will call some 200 adults to pray for a national spiritual awakening starting by adopting a school in their own community to pray for on a regular basis.

These adults will be then encouraged to act. Each of them will receive a Firestarter book which we will challenge them to read (to capture the vision of THE Cause) and then pass on to a Christian teenager they know. They will challenge that teenager to be a spiritual “firestarter” on their campus by spreading the hope of Jesus Christ to every teen in their circle of influence.

Finally, these champions will have an opportunity to give toward THE Cause. It only takes $23 to mobilize one teenager for one year with the tools they need to live THE Cause. And the average teenager has at least 100 online and face to face friends with 100x’s more influence on those friends than a stranger has. So if teenagers can be inspired, equipped and deployed to share the gospel they can make an exponential impact at their school!

That’s what tonight is all about. If you live in Colorado feel free to come by and bring other Christian adults you know. No RSVP necessary this late in the game. Just come ready to get rocked by THE Cause. If you have any questions feel free to connect with Stacey at staceydozer@dare2share.org.

For those of you not planning on being there tonight I will give you the same challenge. Will you mobilize teenagers you know to share the good news of Jesus? Will you pray, act and give toward THE Cause? And will you ask God to do a mighty work of transformation as we pray for the teenagers of America from within the hallowed hallways of Columbine High School?

Pray that the teenagers who are mobilized for THE Cause of Christ as a result of tonight’s program may turn out to be the messengers of hope to their public schools. Pray that they would be used to prevent future school tragedies by reaching out to the broken, hurting or angry teens at their schools with the only message on the planet that can save a life and transform a soul all at the same time.

I am ALL IN for THE Cause. Join me. Join us.
