This scene from the movie “The Apostle” shows Robert Duvall playing a character named Sonny wrestling with God in prayer. I’m not sure we should ever get mad at God, but Sonny’s straight-forwardness in this clip is a lesson for all of us to learn how to pour out our hearts to God with raw authenticity. If you read the Psalms carefully you’ll see that David prayed with the same brand of gut-wrenching honesty. May we learn to do the same but, like David, always circle back to utter trust in Him before we say “Amen.”
